Fanari: Fanari is only 8 minutes away from the centre of Chora and 5 minutes from the New port with amazing alternating views during the day and stunning sunset views. This location has some of the most expensive houses on the island.
Very close to the traditional Light House Faros Armenistis, one of the characteristic buildings of Mykonos cnstructed in 1890. The lighthouse, although abandoned today, is a meeting point of visitors to the island and shelter for young couples. Its strategic position offers great views, ideal frame for commemorative photos and place for contemplation and relaxation. But initially, Armenistis was built to avoid accidents for sea and the occasion gave a wreck in the spring of 1877. The sophisticated mechanism of the Light House had been exhibited and awarded a year ago at the Paris World Exhibition. The Mykonos Lighthouse was one of the first equipped with the innovative machine for the season. The strength of the mechanism was such that, said one elderly who lived in Tinos opposite Armenistis, used at night the light to see. Today, the original mechanism of the Lighthouse is located in the garden of the Maritime Museum of Mykonos and is exposed to the public.
Fanari is located very close to Houlakia and Agios Stefanos with the well-known beaches. The Houlakia beach is the sole beach with pebbles in Mykonos, only 5 kilometers from the town, located in the northern part of the island. The beach is divided into two parts; the left side of the creek has a point with a little sand, while the right side is full of pebbles. Because of natural interest, you may not get a single stone with you and that is why, there are no sun beds and cafes or restaurants. Agios Stefanos is a family friendly beach with all day café-restaurants, mini market, sun beds just one minute away from the new port.
